In such a clash of the titans it can nver truly be a friendly and earlier this morning we were treated to an early glimpse of what these champions legue contenders will be offering this season.
The first half only had one goal but thi not to say it was un eventful with many chances both sides most notably for me was a missed one on one opportunity from Benzema, that I’m sure Luka Jovic may have dispatched.
My first observation here was that chance creation was extremely wing orientated and you could just tell that Kingsley Coman would be a headache for Cravajal. As was the case with the eventual goal scored by Tolisso supplied by Coman himself.
Another opportunity for Real would come from a Marcelo cross to the far post and also a lovely cross from Arsensio teasing a ball in for benzema.
Bayern would show more of a propensity for long shots and honestly after the strike I saw from Thiago I feel him waiting for loose balls just outside of the box will give potentially delightfull finishes from range, Renato sanches also isn’t shy to have a pop.
The second half saw another one one squandered by Vinicius Jnr and I suppose at this stage of the season not too much of a concern they’ll get sharper as we draw closer to the start of the season. The pace upfront for madrid was telling Rodygo and Vinicius are ”Transporters” and a well weighted through ball will see them unlock many a defence. This would be seen in the red card incident were Rodygo pounces on a lackluster backpass.
However the most notable attacker would be Kignsley Coman he remined a constant threat down the left flank he’ll be one two watch this season I expect a between a dozen and 25 assists this season
Throughout the match Bayern opportunities seemed the more likely to produce a goal and when Lewandowski recieved the ball to feet, upfront but alone he quickly turned his defender and finished with the kind of suppliers like Coman, Thiago , Tolisso expect more of the same from him. He is as sharp as a knife edge.
Bayern effectively ended the match as a contest with a composed finish from Gnabry once again supplied by a quality ball from out wide.
Honestly speaking the Maderid defence was significantly weakened with the subbing off of Varane and Ramos, but with the addition of Eder Militao this should be slightly mitigated barring injuries. The abscence of Casemeiro was also had a heavy toll on Real’s defensive capabilities.
It was interesting seeing Isco in a deeper Midfield role and I am of the oppinion that he pretty much owned it, I would not however be offended by th acquisition of Pogba for an ageing Modric.
Upfront for Real seems very intresting as Benzema close ball control is still of a very high standard It will to be seen if he will partner Jovic or Hazard at any point or continue to be flanked by the vast array of pacey attackers. Hazard showed glimpses of that incredible form at Chelsea I expect a big season from him, but Real must improve their finishing Lewandowski really demonstrated the predatory instincts of a crocodile.
Bayern were threatened by Real, but never under any prolonged periods of pressure, I feel thos powerfull runs that I’ve seen from Pogba and his ability to spray an array of long balls would be beneficial for madrid.
By enlarge Bayern are the more prepared team goin into the season and the potential addition of Leroy Sane would only add real quality and depth to an already formidable side, in the event they are unable to acquire him I would recommend Ryan Sessegnon who I believe would benefit greatly and develop his fotball in the Bundesliga.
Real signings of Rodrygo and Vinicius and hazard only bode well for the futeure as they seem to be a wing based attacking team apowerful midfielder like Pogba galloping down the midlle would be Ideal and add another dimension to the attack.
Based of last season I expect Luka Jovic’s quality to shine threw and should push Benzema to put away more chances. as in my opinion Lewandowski left an impression he was the best striker on the pitch!!
